    I want to think the post title is a reference to a quote from the book.

    But, yeah, I fear that most people do not read novels. I think that has always been the case, but, like everything, is more the case now.

    Portland Laugher is one of my favorites too. But it always made an odd … repeat title after Nervous Laughter. I could not remember, based solely on the title, if I had already read it.

    In any case, I look forward to reading it again, purchased in Kindle.

    The title quote came from an interview with a novelist I was listening to on NPR while I jiggered with the website.

    It occurred to me that I’m a bridle maker at the turn of the last century. So are a lot of other storytellers.
